Ongoing: Quantitative Research Assistant – Georgetown Center on Poverty and Inequality’s Economic Security and Opportunity Initiative (ESOI) (new window) often has openings (new window) for part-time quantitative Research Assistants (RAs). We’re looking for Georgetown students with a desire to strengthen their quantitative and statistical programming skills, who share a commitment to our mission to develop and advance ideas that alleviate poverty and inequality, advance racial and gender equity, and expand economic inclusion for all in the United States.
Internships + Part-Time Research Positions
3/3/23–The Business Design & Optimization Group (BDOG) is recruiting for its internship program BDOG welcomes interest and applications from all current Georgetown University students, with a particular emphasis on those who are:
- A Master’s student in Data Science or related field at Georgetown who is graduating no earlier than May 2024 and has fewer than two years of full-time work experience
- Interested in the areas of consulting, higher education administration, financial administration, analytics, research, and/or project management
- Available to work 10-15 hours per week during the fall and spring semesters and/or up-to 40 hours per week during the summer, including a weekly virtual or hybrid team meeting (usually on Fridays)
- Open to at least an academic year commitment or longer (starting in the summer or fall and continuing into the spring semester)
- Able to prioritize the BDOG internship second only to classes and other academic commitments
BDOG interns have the opportunity and support to grow professionally, but should ideally bring some foundational knowledge, skills, and abilities to their roles, including one or more of the following:
- Proven self-starter who is comfortable with both leading and being led in projects
- Eager to work both in teams and independently, including comfort with a primarily remote/virtual work environment
- Familiar with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and Google Workplace (Google Docs, Sheets, and Slides)
- Technical skills such as SQL, R, Python, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), data visualization tools including Tableau, PowerBI, Google Data Studio, and web design
- Capacity to juggle multiple tasks simultaneously and manage time effectively
- Proven track record of using qualitative and quantitative data/supporting information to support a conclusion
- Strong written and verbal communication abilities
- Willingness to receive, give, and act upon constructive feedback to advance their projects and professional development
- Solid research skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality, especially when working on higher-profile university initiatives
