DSAN Student Kefan Yu Will Present at Prestigious AERA Conference in April

We are delighted to share that DSAN student Kefan Yu (MS ‘24) has been invited to present his research paper, ”Tracking Cross-National Score Trajectory in PISA with Dynamic Time Warping Methods” at the prestigious 2024 Annual Conference of American Educational Research Association (AERA). This conference is one of the highest-ranked international conferences in the education field.

He will present at the Division D (Statistical Modeling in Quantitative Measurement Methodology) Graduate Student In-Progress Research Gala in April 2024, in Philadelphia, PA.

His achievement is even more monumental as this gala usually only accepts high-quality papers submitted by PhD students. Kefan is one of the few master’s students accepted to this gala.

Kefan shared that, “Under Professor Qiwei Britt He’s supervision, I learned a lot about measurement and how we apply data science algorithms into this field to draw meaningful conclusions in the education-related area. I am thrilled to share my discoveries on how nations exhibit similar patterns over the years with respect to average scores, rankings, and gender performance disparities with researchers and fellow students at the 2024 Annual Conference of the American Educational Research Association (AERA) conference. Sharing my thoughts with research fellows from universities and companies would gain valuable insights and prepare me for future measurement research.”

The American Educational Research Association (AERA), a national research society, strives to advance knowledge about education, encourage scholarly inquiry related to education, and promote the use of research to improve education and serve the public good.
