Qiwei He

Dr. Qiwei He is Provost’s Distinguished Associate Professor in the Data Science and Analytics Program, and the Founder and Director of the AI-Measurement and Data Science Lab at Georgetown University. She is also an affiliated professor in the Massive Data Institute and Department of Math and Statistics at Georgetown University. Her passion for advancing methodologies in educational learning and assessment has driven her research for over a decade, with special focuses on artificial intelligence techniques, sequence mining, text mining, machine learning, multimodal process data analysis (human computer interaction, eye-tracking, and virtual reality) and psychometric modeling, in digital-based large-scale assessments in education, psychology, psychiatry, and public health.

Prior to joining Georgetown University, Dr. He was a Senior Research Scientist in the Advanced Psychometrics and Data Science Center at Educational Testing Service (ETS), one of the world’s largest educational assessment organizations, for over nine years, overseeing research on innovative item type development, automated assessment, technology-based test design, and sequential log data analyses in national and international large-scale assessments such as PISA, PIAAC and NAEP, as well as K-12 education assessments and learning projects.

Dr. He was appointed to the Board of Human Systems Integration in the United States National Academy of Science, Engineering, and Medicine in 2025 and was selected into the Joint Board for Revisions of The Standards for Educational and Psychological Testing. She was appointed OECD Thomas J. Alexander Fellow in 2018 and currently served in the Expert Group for OECD PISA-Vocational Education and Training Assessment Development. Dr. He was the recipient of the United States National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME) Outstanding Service Award in 2025, Annual Award of Exceptional Achievement in 2023, Jason Millman Promising Measurement Scholar Award in 2019 and Alicia Cascallar Outstanding Paper of Early-Career Scholar Award in 2017. She is also a leading Editor for the book series Statistics and Data Science in Education and Psychology at Springer Nature and an Associate Editor for the Journal of Behavioral Data Science.
